849 'B' Flt '85 - '87 We had some excellent runs during this period, I've got a lot of good memories....... particularly an 18-day detachment to NAS Cecil Field, Florida in '87.
I remember the 3 guys off 820 who were killed, too, in a car accident while we were alongside in Ft. Lauderdale. A sad day indeed.

Really good site which brought back many memories. I served for nearly seven years on the old Ark Royal (The REAL one) as an Aircraft Handler, so the name is a powerful one for me. I also served for two years onboard one of this Ark Royal's sister ships but the experience was largely a 'let down' after the old Ark. Happy days though...great site...well done to all concerned.

Hi not sure if this is just for officer :-/ My Dad Billy Thompson helped build the Ark Royal and i no it was 1 of his most proud moments of his life being part of building it. Same feeling when the queen mother shook his hand. I remember it being docked and being allowed aboard to av a look. I felt so proud my dad was part of such a special warship The news of it being decommissioned saddened me fond memories for us all.
